Watkin William Wynne

One of the last survivors of the Second Afghan War

Last week Peter talked to Jack Wynne, who is the nephew of Watkin William Wynne, our great great grandfather. He came back with fascinating stories of how, as a drummer boy with the 2nd Battalian of the Berkshire Regiment, Watkin was one of the few to survive the battle in July 1880. His drum sticks and medals are preserved in a display case.

I am going to let Peter complete this report, as he has recorded the stories and has more pictures to show.
